Bible: 1Timothy 2: 1-8

Main verse: 1TIMOTHY 2: 8 – I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

– From the beginning, when God created Adam and Eve, He had already established that men must be the leader of their own family, and be responsible for anything that happens within the family. That’s why God asked Adam of what happened first, although Eve was the one who committed the crime of disobeying God first.

GENESIS 3: 11 – And He said: Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?

SÁNG THẾ KÝ 3: 11 – Đức Chúa Trời phán hỏi: Ai đã chỉ cho ngươi biết rằng mình lõa lồ? Ngươi có ăn trái cây ta đã dặn không nên ăn đó chăng?

– That’s also why God does not allow women to rule over men. Both of them are equal before God, but He wants the man to lead his family, not the woman.

1TIMOTHY 2: 12 – And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

1TI-MÔ-THÊ 2: 12 – Ta không cho phép đàn bà dạy dỗ, cũng không được cầm quyền trên đàn ông; nhưng phải ở yên lặng.

– This is God’s rule, so when women rule over men, there would be no blessings for their nation or their families. God has used Israel’s history to point out His rule.

ISAIAH 3: 12 – As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.”

Ê-SAI 3: 12 – Dân ta bị con nít hà hiếp, và đàn bà cai trị nó. Hỡi dân ta, kẻ dẫn ngươi làm cho ngươi sai lạc, và họ phá hoại đường lối ngươi.

– There are some exception that happened in history that women had ruled over men, but those cases were very rare.

– We want to have God’s blessings for our families, so we should constantly pray for Christian men to be able to lead their families by showing examples of love, faith and purity. The Bible has already set up standards for young people, so Christian men should be able to prove themselves in that aspect.

1TIMOTHY 4: 12 – Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1TI-MÔ-THÊ 4: 12 – Chớ để người ta khinh con vì trẻ tuổi; nhưng phải lấy lời nói, nết làm, sự yêu thương, đức tin và sự tinh sạch mà làm gương cho các tín đồ.

– Feminism have been advancing in recent times, because there are men who do not live up to the standards in the Bible. For that reason, some women think that they are better to lead their family than men. However, as human history has indicated, women are more susceptible to temptations than men.

1TIMOTHY 2: 13-14 – For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

1TI-MÔ-THÊ 2: 13-14 – Vì A-đam được dựng nên trước nhất, rồi mới tới Ê-va. Lại không phải A-đam bị dỗ dành, bèn là người đàn bà bị dỗ dành mà sa vào tội lỗi.

– When talking about a home that can be beneficial for children, we should know that it must be built and maintained by both the mother and father. A sole woman, no matter good she is, cannot keep her family better than when she has her husband to be there with her. Real life statistics have proved this point many times.

– Government statistics (from US Dept. Of Health/Census) show that 63% youth suicides are from fatherless homes. It’s 5 times the average.

– About 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes. It’s 32 times the average.

– About 85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes. It’s 20 times the average (from Center for Disease Control).

– About 80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes. It’s 14 times the average (from Justice & Behavior, Vol 14, p. 403-26).

– About 71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes. It’s 9 times the average (from National Principals Association Report)

– There are more statistic relating to fatherless households which indicates that families need fathers, especially good ones, in order for children to grow up happy and successful. That’s why we should pray constantly for the men in our church to be able to live up according to God’s standards in the Bible.

– We all know that God’ standards are the highest and the best. That is one of the main reasons why we should pray more often for God’s help in order to be good examples for others, especially for our children. Women want their husbands to be good, so they would need to ask God to change them for the better, for the families and for society.

– Christian men should take full responsibilities for those they love and care for. It’s the first and foremost virtue that Christian men should have so that we can glorify God, and be the best witnesses for Him and look after our families as best as we can.

1TIMOTHY 2: 8 – I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

1TI-MÔ-THÊ 2: 8 – Vậy, ta muốn những người đờn ông đều giơ tay tinh sạch lên trời, mà cầu nguyện khắp mọi nơi, chớ có giận dữ và cãi cọ.

– There are many virtues that Christian men can equip in order to be good husbands, excellent fathers and exceptional leaders at homes, but in this particular verse, the Bible remind Christian men only three things. We should focus on them for this Father’s Day. They are praying with holy hands, being calm and content and having a strong faith in the Word of God.

– Holiness must be the foremost virtue in all Christians, especially men, because it is one of the requirements for entering the Kingdom of God. Christian men should not be hot-headed, because they will regret it later. They also have to be a good example for their wives and children by living faithfully by God’ standards in the Bible.

– This is the best way to have good influences on our children to build better generations for the future before Christ comes back to Earth. This is also the best way to establish and maintain happy homes for our families and being good witnesses to the world.

– May God bless our men abundantly, especially on Father’s Day, so that each one of us will be good, honest and loving leaders in Christian homes and in societies everywhere on Earth. Amen.
