We Christians all know that our spiritual life can only function properly with the help from God and His power. After believing in God, Christians are always attacked by Satan’s temptation and if we don’t rely on His power, none of us can overcome the spiritual battle.
Christians need God’s power to revive the church. When Christians are strong, then the church will be the same.
A local church can be prospered and populous in numbers without being revived, but it will be more divided among its members, like what happened in the church at Corinth:
1CORINTHIANS 3: 3 – For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
If Christians want the church to be revived, we must first seek God’s power through prayer to overcome Satan’s temptation and the division of the church. It’s the best way to make the church grow spiritually and in numbers, as it was dictated by God’s words in the Bible:
ACTS 9: 31 –
ACTS 16: 5 –
We can use a cell phone as an illustration. It has to have all necessary apps and functions to be recognized as a good phone. Likewise Christians have to be equipped with many kind of talents to serve the Lord and His body successfully, like what Paul and other apostles received during their ministry:
1CORINTHIANS 3: 5 –
Many of us already have many different talents, but what truly matters is whether we want to serve Him or not.
If we had the best phone ever, but still kept it in its box, then the phone is no use at all. It’s just a piece of metal and plastic without any benefits. The phone is only good when it’s being used daily in need of communication and other tasks. Likewise Christians are only useful and blessed when we use our talents to serve the Lord and others.
However, when we want to use the phone, we must charge it. Likewise Christians are only useful when we have God’s power to employ our talents.
Going to church on Sundays is one of the best way to charge our spiritual life with God’s power. If we just stayed home, then how could we serve the Lord and His body?
In the present, everyone knows how important it is to charge our phones each night before going to sleep. Some Christians even remember the task more than remembering to pray before going to bed.
If we forget to charge the phone, then the next day we would experience some trouble in communication, especially with our children and spouses.
There are a lot of examples relating to forgetting to charge the phone. We could charge our phone when driving but sometime it’s not enough to use it for the whole day.
If Christians did not go to church on Sundays, then our spiritual lives would not have enough of God’s power to keep us living a proper Christian life. We would also be more susceptible to Satan’s temptations. Going to the church regularly is one of the best ways to keep our faith strong to win the spiritual battle:
1JOHN 5: 4 – For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith
Christians overcome Satan’s temptation and the world’s because of our faith in God and going to church on Sundays is one of the ways to strengthen our faith for the week and for our whole life.
In reality, there are many Christians who lost their faith because of abandoning the habit to go to church on Sunday, like an uncharged phone. We could see it right in our own homes as it happens. Those family members who did not want to go to church would eventually lose their faith, then after some time, they would act like unbelievers. They would not pray or touch the Bible anymore. They would even become hostile to us if we reminded them to go back to church.
That’s one of the many reasons why we should keep going to church on Sunday regularly. We want to keep our faith for the day Jesus comes back to Earth:
HEBREWS 10: 25 –
We need to go to church regularly to charge our spiritual lives with God’s power, and when we aim for that goal, we will be blessed with the necessary strength from the Holy Spirit:
PSALM 84: 7 – They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
As we want to meet God someday in His heavenly house, we should show our hearts for it by going to His house on Earth, like royal children present before our King over kings, Lord over lords. It’s the best to practice for the future in Heaven and at the same time to charge our spiritual life for the week ahead.
May God bless us with strength and power when we come before Him in His house every Sunday. May God encourage more of His children to do the same so that we can be successful in serving Him and save other lost souls. Amen.
