The freedom of speech in America today has been deteriorated so badly that people have to be careful when expressing themselves in public. It looks like America has gone down to the same level of countries that were under dictatorship or communist regimes. Even at home many American citizens have been subjected to government’s surveillance under the disguise of national security. One of many examples is what happening at James Madison University. Students at this year orientation have been given a list of 35 phrases that they should avoid to say to other people. It seems this kind of suppressing the free speech would eventually spread to other universities, colleges and schools all around the nation. The younger generations of this country have been brainwashed to become too sensitive to their feeling that later on they might not survive the hard reality of life. It’s bad for them.
