Daily Bible

Yesterday we heard news that a boy of 14 killed his father and shot 3 children at an elementary school. He was one of many children that developed violence behavior at very young age. And that behavior would be with them for the rest of their lives regardless of how much other people try to help them to change. We have been lived long enough in this life to know that most of people do not change their personalities. We have rarely seen of real change in a person’s life. We humans do not have the ability to change ourselves or others. The change that science, the media, politicians, psychologists, teachers, doctors, professors, judges, priests often talk about is just an illusion that they use to lie to them or to others. When a person develops a particular trait of personality, it will be with him until he dies. No education, no wealth, no knowledge that can make a person changed. When people get older, they are better at hiding or masking their personalities with the outward appearances, but behind that they are just the same waiting for a right moment to appear as they are. And there are always some people who are better at hiding their real self than others. If money and wealth make people morally better, there would be no criminal among billionaires and millionaires. If education makes people morally better, there would be no criminals among teachers and professors. If knowledge makes people morally better, there would be no criminal in academic and science communities. If religion makes people morally better, there would be no criminal among priests and religious hierarchy. If power and privilege make people morally better, there would be no criminal among politicians. But we all know that it’s impossible. That’s why we distinguish between institutional religion and the belief in God. He is the Only One who can change people. But it seems nobody wants to have help from Him. That’s why this world has been the same to the end of it. Do we think how long we should live until we see a real change in human behavior? We do not live long enough.

(Jeremiah 13: 23) Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Then may you also do good who are accustomed to do evil.
