Yesterday it’s sad to see the dream for gold of the American women soccer team was gone after losing in the penalty against Sweden. The American team were winners in the 2015 world cup and no one thought they would go out of the Olympic game like that, without any medal. But sport games are unpredictable and results can be different unexpectedly. We wish they would take the defeat well and brush it aside to prepare for the next tournament. Life is also like that. No one knows for sure what will happen the next day or in the future. Nothing is forever in this life. Winner today can be loser tomorrow. What we are having can be gone in a split moment. But we Christians are so lucky to have eternal life in Jesus Christ. Seventy or eighty years in this life cannot compare to the eternal life in Jesus. Although we are struggling in this life like anybody else, with up and down times, with sickness and melancholy, we know they are just temporary. One day when we passed from this life we will see God face to face and will be allowed to stay in His glory kingdom forever. That’s why we always prepare for that day. Sometime we are so amazed to see people fighting so hard in order to keep things that never intended to last long while keep ignoring things that are forever. Seeing athletes at the Olympic game compete for gold medals remind us Christians to try our best to achieve the reward of eternal life in Jesus. The verse for today is:
(Hebrews 12: 1) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
