One child asked us where the devil comes from. She wanted to know that if God created everything, so it means He created the devil, too? But it is absurd. God is good and He cannot create something or someone that bad. That’s why the child wanted to know where satan comes from. According to the Bible he was an angel created by God, and God gave every beings He created the freedom to choose whatever they want to do. For angels and for human beings, they can choose to serve Him or not, but there are always consequences for whatever they have chosen. Satan chose to serve himself instead and the consequences that followed make him the devil. That’s the same thing that happened to human beings. When a person chooses not to serve God, he becomes sinner. For many people, this explanation is absurd. Their question is always this: Why I have to serve God? But before we answer that question, please let us ask them back: Whosever in this life does not serve someone? People served their countries when they died on battlefield, served company’s owners whenever they go to work, served the politicians whenever they go to vote. If those masters can pay for their service, God loves to pay more, much more, but because of shortsighted, human beings like to serve human masters than serving the Great Living God. Even when politicians cheated the populace, people must still serve their interests, otherwise they will be declared as criminals by the law those crooked politicians issued. But where the question why I have to serve the politician’s interest? When we go to the voting booths this November, who (the politicians or the common people) will get the fame, the most protection, the most privilege, the most power, the most of every good things? And are we sure that we will get something back from them, or just a few crumbs from their table, or maybe nothing in return? And the people dare to question God? Please tell us, who among the politicians want to kill themselves for the common people? We all know the answer. The verse for today is:
(Romans 1: 25) Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever. Amen.
A-men.
