Abel had a short life on Earth (if comparing to Cain’s) but his name has been mentioned a few times in the Bible as an example of the righteous person. According to the Bible he was the one who gave offering late to the Lord than Cain, but his offering was accepted by the Lord because He pleased with him. Abel offered a sacrifice of first-born lamb indicating that he understood God’s plan to save mankind from sin. He had that knowledge from his parents as Adam and Eve were clothed with animal’s skin by God on the day they were cast out of Eden. God have to kill an animal to take the skin. That act represented the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for the sins of all mankind and Abel understood the meaning and had his offering accordingly. Today all we Christians love God but to please Him we must follow Abel’s example, to live by His standards set forth for us in His Word. Cain also gave the Lord an offering but he did not care much what God wanted. He thought an offering was enough to please God, no matter its content was. Sometime we Christian did the same way, we did not care much of what God really wants from us. That kind of mistake could costs us dearly at the end like Cain’s. The verse for today is:
(1Samuel 15: 22) The Samuel said: Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.
(1Sa-mu-ên 15: 22) Sa-mu-ên nói: Đức Giê-hô-va há đẹp lòng của lễ thiêu và của lễ thù ân bằng sự vâng theo lời phán của Ngài ư? Vả, sự vâng lời tốt hơn của tế lễ; sự nghe theo tốt hơn mỡ chiên đực.
