BIBLE COMMENTARY/Psalm 90: 2

PSALM 90: 2 – Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.

– At the beginning, God was there before anything or anyone. He was there before the universe was created. He had been there long before anything came into existence. In other words, God was there with the ultimate emptiness. There was nothing but Him. He is the One Who has no beginning and no end (Proverbs 8: 22-23, Isaiah 63: 16, Micah 5: 1, Jude 1: 25)
– God is the self-existent God, Who came into being by Himself (Isaiah 43: 10).
– God created the Universe, the Solar system and the Earth. He also created angels who are ministers to the Universe and the Earth. God is powerful (Acts 17: 25), but He created the angels because of His love for them. He wanted to share the control of the universe with them. The Bible does not tell us when God created the universe, but we understand that it was created before the creation of angels. The Bible calls angels as servants of God (Hebrews 1: 7), and they could not possibly serve Him if there was nothing for them to do or to take care of. After that, God created the first human who He named Adam.
