BIBLE COMMENTARY/Psalm 9: 17
PSALM 9: 17 – The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
– Both in the physical and spiritual life, there are rewards and punishment. If there was no punishment, then criminals would not be deterred and they would continue to hurt other people. They must be brought to justice and put in confinement for the benefit of the innocents (Proverbs 11: 21).
– It’s the same in spiritual world. Hell is a spiritual prison in which the devil, his minions and the souls of wicked people must be kept, so that God’s children can enjoy eternal life (Revelation 21: 8, 21: 4).
– Nations are counted as wicked as they forget God’s righteous laws and use the imperfect laws of humans. By that, it brings injustice to their populaces (Psalm 2: 2-3).
– God’s punishment for wicked individuals and nations is the same. All of them must be kept in one place for eternity.
QUOTED VERSES:
PSALM 2: 1-3 – Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
PROVERBS 11: 21 – Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
REVELATION 21: 4 – And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
REVELATION 21: 8 – But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
