BIBLE COMMENTARY/Psalm 145: 8

PSALM 145: 8 – The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.

– Anger is one of the many emotions that we have in this life. We, as Christians, are allowed to be angry sometimes, but we must know when and for what reason. Most importantly, we must know how to control our temper.
– Few of us know how to control our temper, so for young people, we have to learn how to control it as soon as possible. Knowing how will benefit us in the long run.
– Firstly, when we want to control our temper, we should remember that our God is slow to anger. The Bible recorded it to give us an example. Do not think that because He is God, we cannot learn from Him or act like Him. God want us to imitate Him and Jesus in every aspect of our life (Ephesians 5: 1, 1Corinthians 11: 1). God will give us the strength and the power to be able to act like him (Philippians 4: 13).
– We have to learn to control our temper by praying to God whenever we are angry. By doing that, we will be slow to anger and not act impulsively.
– We should remember that those who are slow to anger are counted as wise and understanding (Proverbs 14: 29), and those who are hot-headed are counted as fools according to the Bible’s standards (Proverbs 12: 16).
– In order to be a “wise person,” we should always control our temper and try to be slow to anger. It will save us the trouble and unnecessary confrontation (Proverbs 15: 18).
– We should remember this method, and practice it constantly to be prepared when we encounter such situations in the future.
