BIBLE COMMENTARY/Psalm 10: 17
PSALM 10: 17 – Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear.
– Nowadays people usually talk about diversity of races, cultures, social statuses and religious beliefs, but according to the Bible, there are only two kinds of people in this life: the meek and the wicked.
– We are either one of those. We cannot be both. As we are Christians, most of us are meek because God wants us to be so (Galatians 5: 22-23).
– In general sense, the meek is always at disadvantage before the wicked, because they are usually aggressive and dominant. That’s why God has commanded us to avoid them as much as possible (Psalm 1: 1). He does not want us to get hurt or to be influenced by them. When being associated with them, some Christians even adopted their attitudes and later became one of them.
– Some people did not want to be taken advantage of by others, so they thought it’s better to be aggressive. But the end result was the same, even worse, because there were always people who were more belligerent. Therefore, being wicked and aggressive would not get a desired result for long (Proverbs 11: 18).
– And we, as God’s children, are naturally meek and humble as we have tried to live according to the Bible’s standards. And because it’s a virtue that God wants us to have, so He is willing to bless us much more when we continue to be like that.
– In case we were oppressed or were taken advantage of by the wicked, God will hear our plead and rescue us, as it was written in Psalm 10: 17 and 97: 10.
– As we cannot be aggressive enough to be always on top in this world of darkness, it’s better to be meek and humble with God on our side than to be condemned by Him in this life and forever because of wickedness.
