BIBLE COMMENTARY/Proverbs 29: 13

PROVERBS 29: 13 – The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both.

– The light means the knowledge of life and death. God is Just, so He blesses everyone with that knowledge in the Bible. What matters is how they understand it and act on it. Human life is limited (Psalm 90: 10) and no one can bring anything from this life to the next one (1Timothy 6: 7). Wise people prepare themselves for life after death (Hebrews 9: 27) while others focus only on this life and does not care what will happen to them after passing away (Psalm 10: 4, Proverbs 5: 6).
– Poor or rich, everyone will come before God on Judgment day and answer for what we did in this life (2Corinthians 5: 10). We must prepare ourselves for that day so that we can be allowed to enter the kingdom of God and live happily with Him forever.
