BIBLE COMMENTARY/Proverbs 19: 29
PROVERBS 19: 29 – Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
– Everyone knows scoffing is not nice (Proverbs 14: 6) and no one wants to be reacted to that way (Proverbs 24: 9). That’s why scoffers are not always welcome into a circle of friends (Psalm 1: 1, Proverbs 22: 10).
– Christians should try our best to avoid having such manner (Proverbs 9: 12). Even when we speak about people who hates us or is an enemy to Christianity, we should keep our words clear and clean, never use filthy or dirty words (Jude 1: 9).
– This verse lets us know that God already has punishments for such bad manners (Proverbs 3: 34) and we certainly don’t want to be at the end of it. Our manner should be suitable to glorify God and to be good example for the world (Colossians 4: 6). God will reward us with His blessings when we live for Him and for those who are in search of eternal salvation.
