BIBLE COMMENTARY/Proverbs 1: 10

PROVERBS 1: 10 – My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

– Temptations are always present in human life (Lu-ca 17: 1). Sinners usually use temptation to entice Christians to do the wrong thing (Psalm 5: 9). It is important to know what is right and what is wrong. Sinners are actually very good at persuading us to live and act like they do, so we must know and remember God’s standards in the Bible to keep away from such persuasive people (Psalm 119: 165).
– When Christians don’t know the basic standards in the Bible, they will think the unbeliever’s lifestyle is acceptable, and start to become like them.
– Jesus let us know that the way we Christians follow God is different from the way of unbelievers (Proverbs 15: 24, Matthew 7: 13), and we must make the choice of which way we want to go in this life. God has given mankind the freedom to choose (ecclesiaste 11: 9), so we should use that gift with precaution to not fall into the trap of sinners (Romans 12: 2), so that we can be rewarded with the eternal life when Jesus comes back to Earth.
