BIBLE COMMENTARY/Acts 10: 38
ACTS 10: 38 – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.
– Jesus is the Word of God Who took the human form and came into the world to die for mankind’s sins (John 1: 1, 29), but even so, in His human form, Jesus still needed to be anointed with the Holy Spirit and with God’s power in order to do His ministry and fulfill His role. We understand that humans don’t have the power to live a holy life according to God’s instructions (Romans 7: 21-23), but we need help from Him to live as such.
– There are people who do not give a thought about salvation and eternal life. There are also people who think that they don’t need God’s help to live a good life and that’s why many of them fall into temptation (Matthew 26: 41), but we Christians want the eternal life and we know that we can’t overcome Satan’s temptation. That’s why we are constantly asking for help from God.
– We win over Satan not because of our own power, but by God’s (2Corinthians 2: 14). With God’s grace and love, we can live a good life (Philippians 4: 13) and receive salvation in the future.
