BIBLE COMMENTARY/2Peter 3: 16

2PETER 3: 16 – As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

– The Bible was inspired by God (2Timothy 3: 16-17), and so was Paul’s epistles (1Corinthians 7: 40) that were mentioned here by Apostle Peter.
– As said by Peter, many parts of the Bible are hard to understand (2Peter 1: 20), so we need help from the Holy Spirit to fully grasp it (John 16: 13).
— Those who are untaught, and whom have a unstable faith, will not understand the Scripture. This means that we have to pray constantly to God to help us understand and have a strong faith. Not doing so will lead us far away from the truth, and eventually, we will lose faith in God and His Word. This has happened to many Christians.
– When Peter talked about the untaught, he did not mean those who were uneducated, because he was one of them (Acts 4: 13), but he meant those who were not taught by the Holy Spirit.
– It’s the main reason as to why non-believers will never understand the Bible because they don’t have the Holy Spirit in them. The same goes for Christians who neglect the importance of praying to seek the Holy Spirit.
