BIBLE COMMENTARY/1Thessalonians 1: 5
1THESSALONIANS 1: 5 – For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
– The Bible is not just a mere book, it’s a book of law, of instructions and guidance for humankind (Joshua 1: 8). It helps humans to live a life of understanding, love and holiness by the highest standards (2Timothy 3: 16-17).
– The Bible is also a living book because it can change a person’s life completely, and its effect can last forever. None of the other books are like that. A person can read other books and lose interest, but the Bible can be read over and over for a lifetime, and it can become more interesting each time.
– Other books can be understood by human mind, but to understand the Bible, a person must have the Holy Spirit. Reality shows that even people with higher education and theological credentials cannot fully understand the Bible (Luke 24: 45, John 16: 13, 2Corinthians 3: 6, 1Timothy 6: 20-21).
– The Bible is the only book that has been abused by humans. Many people throughout human history had tried to destroy it, but they had all failed. That is the assurance that it came from God (John 5: 39).
