BIBLE COMMENTARY: 1Peter 3: 7

1PETER 3: 7 – Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

– Everyone can understand this verse but really know how to follow it is another matter,
– Feminism today sometime uses this verse, especially those words GIVING HONOR TO THE WIFE to demand equal status between husband and wife, but it is not what the Bible means,
– Husband, in God’s word, is still the head of the family, but he must love his wife as Christ loves the church, and it means that husband must always be ready to sacrifice himself in every aspect for the benefit of his wife, like Christ did for the church,
– If husband could do it, his wife would happily let him being the head of the family for the rest of her life no doubt,
– The word GIVING HONOR means husband must remember that Christ also died for his wife and because of His precious blood on her, he should never mistreat her in any way.
