BIBLE COMMENTARY/1Corinthians 2: 14

1CORINTHIANS 2: 14 – But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

– A natural man is a person whose only focus is to satisfy his physical needs (Romans 8: 5), and not spiritual matters. He only believe in what he can see and touch. For him, the invisible world does not exist (Psalm 14: 1), and that’s why he never believes in God. They sometimes become enemies of God and Jesus Christ (Romans 8: 7).
– God never does anything in vain, so He will not reveal Himself to natural men who doesn’t want to understand spiritual matters. They despise all spiritual things and even hates them. Christians should remember this and not waste time on convincing them to believe in God, the salvation in Jesus Christ and the eternal life. Those things have no value to them. If we fail to convince them, then we should avoid them like in the case of the heretics (Titus 3: 10).
– If we ever tried to talk to them about God and His plan for mankind, they would laugh at us, mock us, and even attack us, as it happened throughout the history of Christianity (Galatians 4: 29). It’s better to let them be so that they can meet their end (Romans 8: 6, Galatians 6: 8).
