– Everyone wants to have a healthy life, but not everyone know how to achieve it. In contrary, many people pursuit their unhealthy desires and hurt their bodies, their lives.
– Some people were born with defects or disabilities. Those can be improved with today technologies, and especially with blessings from God because miracles are still happening in our time.
– However, with other people who were born healthy, they often squander their healthy lives with reckless and foolish manners.
– Most children were nurtured and protected carefully by their parents, but when they grow up, many of them use cigarettes, alcohol or drugs to hurt themselves. Many of them became chainsmokers, drunkards and drug addicts. Luckily, many of us, after confessing our sins and believing in Jesus, have got rid of those bad habits.
– From that time on, we learn how to achieve a healthy life with the help from the Lord and the Holy Spirit. In the Bible, we will find many secrets that can help us achieve a peaceful, happy mind and a healthy body.
– First, we have to remember this basic understanding: God is Just, among many other characteristics. He created humans in a perfect balance as He did with the whole universe. This understanding should be a main principle for us to achieve a healthy life.
PSALM 145: 17 – The Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works.
THI THIÊN 145: 17 – Đức Giê-hô-va là công bình trong mọi đường Ngài, hay làm ơn trong mọi công việc Ngài.
DANIEL 9: 14 – Therefore the Lord has kept the disaster in mind, and brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice.
ĐA-NI-ÊN 9: 14 – Vì Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời chúng tôi là công bình trong mọi việc Ngài làm
– It means we should always keep our lives in balance in all aspects of our lives. To make it easy to remember, we should know this: Every time we lose the balance in our lives, our mind will be affected and our bodies will be tired or sick.
– We will give some examples here for us to consider. First is our brains. The mind is important because it control the whole body, so we should take close care of it. We should exercise our brains everyday, but we should never let it become too tired or too stressed.
– To keep the brain in balance, we should give it proper time to work, to relax, to rest and to sleep. We cannot push the brain to work all 24 hours, nor should we let it sleep through the whole day. We should have different activities for the brain each day.
– For example, after a whole day at work, we should lay down and relax a bit after getting back home. It will give the brain time to relax. After that, we should cheer up by watching a funny show without raunchy words or read a book that has an happy story. When we go to bed, make sure your mind is put to proper rest. A few chapters of the Bible and a prayer will make our brain sleep happily and peacefully.
PROVERBS 14: 30 – A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.
CHÂM NGÔN 14: 30 – Lòng bình tịnh là sự sống của thân thể; Còn sự ghen ghét là đồ mục của xương cốt.
PROVERBS 17: 22 – A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.
CHÂM NGÔN 17: 22 – Lòng vui mừng vốn một phương thuốc hay; Còn trí nao sờn làm xương cốt khô héo.
PSALM 31: 10 part A – For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing.
THI THIÊN 31: 10 phần A – Mạng sống tôi tiêu hao vì cớ buồn bực, các năm tôi sút kém tại than thở.
– That is one of many reasons that God commands us not to keep angry after sunset:
EPHESIANS 4: 26 – When being angry, and do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your wrath.
Ê-PHÊ-SÔ 4: 26 – Ví bằng anh em đang cơn giận, thì chớ phạm tội; chớ căm giận cho đến khi mặt trời lặn.
– It is the same with our bodies. We have to give our bodies proper time to work, to relax, to rest and to sleep. A person who works too hard for a long period of time will be tired, and his body will susceptible to sickness and disease. That’s why Jesus had reminded His disciples the necessity of taking rest from their work:
MARK 6: 31 – And He said to them: Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while. For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.
– However, if a person relaxes and is idle for too long, they will lose the will to work and they will become lazy.
PROVERBS 26: 14-15 – As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man on his bed. The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
CHÂM NGÔN 26: 14-15 – Kẻ biếng nhác lăn trở trên giường mình, khác nào cửa xây trên bản lề nó. Kẻ biếng nhác thò tay mình trong dĩa, lấy làm mệt nhọc mà đem nó lên miệng.
– The principle of balance should also be applied to eating, too. Our bodies were created in balance by God, so we cannot be extreme in our eating habits by eating too much or too little.
PROVERBS 23: 2 – Put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.
CHÂM NGÔN 23: 2 – Nếu con có láu ăn, khá để con dao nơi họng con.
– Our diet should be in balance with all kinds of food. We cannot neglect anyone of them or eating one pariticular kind of food too much.
– It is one of many reasons that God’s Word has commanded us that we should not be extreme in any aspects of our lives.
LUKE 21: 34 – But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.
LU-CA 21: 34 – Vậy, hãy tự giữ lấy mình, e rằng vì sự ăn uống quá độ, sự say sưa và sự lo lắng đời nầy làm cho lòng các ngươi mê mẩn chăng, và e ngày ấy đến thình lình trên các ngươi như lưới bủa;
– The only “extreme” that we should do and must do is trying our best to live like our heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ:
1TIMOTHY 4: 8 – For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
1TI-MÔ-THÊ 4: 8 – Vì sự tập tành thân thể ích lợi chẳng bao lăm, còn như sự tin kính là ích cho mọi việc, vì có lời hứa về đời nầy và về đời sau nữa.
– In order to achieve a healthy life both physically and spiritually, we must always be in balance. We should control our bodies and all of its desires, especially those that are opposite to God’ standards.
– With help from the Holy Spirit we can do that and be successful. May God bless us, give us strength and determination to follow the Bible’s teachings to the end. Amen.
